Healthcare Education with a Rural Focus

Rural communities across Colorado have a shortage of healthcare professionals. In fact, 77% of rural counties are designated as Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA). This shortage reduces available care and leads to worse outcome for many Coloradans.

The goal of the Colorado Rural Healthcare Workforce Initiative (CORHWI) is to improve access to healthcare in rural Colorado by attracting and training physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, behavioral health, dentists, and other medical and dental staff who want to work in these underserved areas.
