Unintended Pregnancy

This module addresses the risk factors for unintended pregnancy and the considerations around reducing it, especially in rural communities.

Amanda Bristol Swanson, MD, Family Physician, Faculty, University of Colorado Rural Program

Dr. Swanson is a board-certified family physician. She has lived and worked in rural Colorado most of her career. After completing medical school at the University of St. Louis, in St. Louis, MO, she competed residency in Belleville, IL, and then a fellowship in Rural Family Medicine in Tacoma, WA.

  • Identify common barriers to care for family planning services.
  • Identify best practices for inclusive health care for the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
  • Provide patient centered language regarding the efficacy of different forms of contraception.
  • Discuss the ethical implications of conscientious objection in family planning.
