This module gives an overview of the landscape of rural medicine in Colorado. It largely follows the “Snapshot of Rural Health in Colorado, 2023” by the Colorado Rural Health Center.
Amanda Bristol Swanson, MD, Family Physician, Faculty, University of Colorado Rural Program
Dr. Swanson is a board-certified family physician. She has lived and worked in rural Colorado most of her career. After completing medical school at the University of St. Louis, in St. Louis, MO, she competed residency in Belleville, IL, and then a fellowship in Rural Family Medicine in Tacoma, WA.

- Discuss the unique challenges of healthcare in Rural Colorado.
- Identify areas of healthcare shortages, and how the student can make a difference.
