Introduction to Suicide Prevention with Rural Consideration

This module provides an overview of the topic of suicide prevention including rural considerations and points learners to training for further study of evidence-based techniques for suicide prevention.

Learning Objectives

After completion of this module, the student will be able to:

  • Describe general and rural implications for suicide.
  • Summarize suicide data to reflect current trends.
  • Identify suicide risk factors, warning signs, protective factors, and evidence–based prevention strategies.
  • Select and complete an evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training resource to become a suicide prevention gatekeeper.
  • Explore local, state, and national suicide prevention resources that can be accessed by anyone at risk for suicide or anyone concerned about someone at risk for suicide.
