This module provides an overview of the topic of suicide prevention including rural considerations and points learners to training for further study of evidence-based techniques for suicide prevention.

Learning Objectives
After completion of this module, the student will be able to:
- Describe general and rural implications for suicide.
- Summarize suicide data to reflect current trends.
- Identify suicide risk factors, warning signs, protective factors, and evidence–based prevention strategies.
- Select and complete an evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training resource to become a suicide prevention gatekeeper.
- Explore local, state, and national suicide prevention resources that can be accessed by anyone at risk for suicide or anyone concerned about someone at risk for suicide.
